Milk & Clothes

Last week Lore and I talked about QMilch, a new type of fabric, created by a former microbiology student Anke Domaske.

Qmilch, the eco-friendly textile made from milk, can change the clothing production industry completely, and this because of its sustainability.

Qmilch proves that milk is good for the outside of the body as well as the inside. Although, it isn’t an entirely new concept, this is by far the most successful attempt, because it’s the most sustainable.

Eco-friendly?

Anke Domaske says: "Qmilch is made from organic milk that has gone sour and cannot be sold- so it recycles something that would have otherwise gone to waste. The milk is heated, combined with ingredients such as beeswax, and spun into thread. This process is much more ecologically sound.  Chemicals aren’t used, and it cuts down on water waste! It is even biodegradable."

If you’d like to see clothes made from milk, Anke Domaske has also created her own fashion line “Mademoiselle Chi Chi”, already supported by Mischa Barton and Ashlee Simpson.
