Green warmth

When I woke up this morning and checked my newsfeed on Facebook I saw this message from a friend of mine :
That’s right, spring. March 1 is the beginning of meteorological spring. Yes, boys and girls, there really is such a thing.

But that is not what I want to talk to you about today. Today, on Thursday 1 March, Batibouw, the greatest professional fair of construction and renovation, will open its doors again. This year, Batibouw goes back to basics! Anyone thinking of building or renovating tries to do it as sustainably and ecologically as possible. Whether we want to or not, we are all forced to live a more conscious, a more ‘green’ life. And this ecological, sustainable lifestyle, with respect for nature, is a real trend. The demand for greener products in the construction sector has brought about a veritable revolution. Manufacturers are constantly looking for new materials and techniques.
One of the green innovations we can find at Batibouw this year, is the built-in fireplace of the Belgian company DDG : the Eco F40 Planos. As the trend toward greener building takes shape and as fuel costs rise, consumers are starting to realize fireplaces offer them more than just aesthetics and comfort. Today’s customers are driven by the need to save on these rising fuel costs, to find a more energy-efficient way of heating their home. And they have turned to fireplaces as one solution.
The new fireplace Eco F40 Planos can be connected to the central heating. This way it provides enough power to heat the whole house. The DDG ECO technology combines a high yield and an environmentally friendly nature. How does it work? The heater divides the heat into direct heat radiation (1/3) and the heat for the central heating system (2/3). Using Eco-technology there is no heat loss and therefore no waste of energy. The heat recovery guarantees a return that is higher than 80%. Due to the higher combustion temperature the emission values will drop significantly and cause the least possible harm to the environment.

Although today might be the beginning of meteorological spring, temperature can still drop below zero. So you might want to keep those flames burning in your fireplace!
