A Green University

A GREEN STUDENT AT A GREEN UNIVERSITY

Perhaps some of you have seen these advertising posters in the corridors of the Blandijn building. Have you ever taken a close look to see what is written on them?

This Thursday, the 15th of March, you can visit the Ecomarkt. All students (and teachers, too!) are invited to come and see how you can eat and shop in a more eco-friendly way.

The City of Ghent also wants to support the fight against global warming. That’s why they developed their own durability plan. They set goals for themselves: where do they want to be by 2020, 2030… To obtain these goals they asked some important institutions of Ghent, like the University, to take part in this project. The Ecomarkt contributes to this initiative.

Now, what does Ecomarkt offer? Students can taste some delicious vegetarian food (and let’s be honest; who doesn’t love free food!?), they are introduced to the world of eco-friendly wellness products, learn about biological fruit and vegetables, and gather information about the sustainable services that the University and the city of Ghent offer. Twenty stand-holders propose their products, among which we will surely be able to find some interesting green innovations.

The second edition of Ecomarkt takes place at Ufo, this Thursday starting from 11AM to 3PM. For more information about this event and about the University’s green policy, please visit this website
