As my quest
for eco-friendly printing has been taken over by Laura and Thomas (Fare thee
well, comrades!), I’ve decided to move on and see what else there is in store. As
I’ve heard some of my colleagues dreaming out loud of a trip around the world - once this rollercoaster called MTB
has come to an end – I’d like to provide them with at least one innovation
that’s ecologically justified.
Stuffing
their heavy backpacks with more ponderous attributes isn’t an option though.
That’s why I focused on something nearly every MTB student has nowadays and
that can be, above all, unlimitedly stuffed without causing any back pain: the
smart phone.
Result of
my new quest: an ecological travel app called Hootroot that helps you navigate efficiently from A to B. Nothing
revolutionary about that, you might think, but this app also includes carbon
footprints for travel by car, airplane, public or human-powered transport on
any possible route.
It’s no
coincidence the novelty was invented by Brighter Planet, currently a leading
provider of carbon and energy calculations. Rather than being an innovative appliance, the
Hootroot may be innovative by changing travellers’
ecological mentality or behavior, constantly facing them with their ecological
footprint.
Cause pictures say more than words, and videos
even more than pictures:
